A fire engulfed Kpakpando FM, a private radio station located in Mbaukwu, within the Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The incident occurred around 9:30 PM on Thursday and severely impacted the station’s office building, resulting in partial damage to its studio equipment.

Fortunately, no lives were lost in the inferno, although the exact cause remains undetermined.

Engr Martin Agbili, the State Fire Chief, confirmed the occurrence and attributed the preservation of some equipment and parts of the building to the swift response of his team.

Agbill said:

At about 2139hrrs (9.39pm) of Thursday 07-03-2024, Anambra State Fire Service, received a distressed call of a fire outbreak at KPAKPANDO FM, MBAUKWU.

“Immediately we deployed our fire truck and gallant Firefighters to the scene of fire. We fought, controlled and extinguished the fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown. The office building with its studio equipment was partly burnt while some equipment and other parts of the building were saved.

“We withdrew from the fire scene at about 2318hrs (11.18pm).
