According to the spokesman for the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, firefighters responded swiftly after receiving a distress call and were able to contain the fire before it caused more extensive damage.

“On arrival, the fire crew swiftly commenced operations to curtail the spread and damage,” Adekunle stated.

He confirmed that the affected building is a storey structure with 30 rooms, and that three rooms on the upper floor were destroyed in the blaze.

Preliminary investigations suggest the fire was triggered by a power surge.

The Director of the State Fire Service urged residents to remain vigilant and adopt safety measures to prevent similar incidents.
