Fire has engulfed properties worth millions of Naira in the Elere House, Gold and Rock area in Oyo.
The fire which was caused by an electricity surge when the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, IBEDC, restored power razed a residential building down.
According to the General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Mr Yemi Akinyinka, the incident happened at exactly 12:24 hours on Tuesday.
In a statement made known to Daily Report Nigeria, Mr. Ainyinka said that immediately after the incident was confirmed, Fire personnel, led by ACFS Oyedeji, promptly deployed to the scene. On arrival, they found out that a private residential building with six rooms was engulfed in flames.

Immediately, they began operations and were able to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings. He said, “Properties worth millions of naira were destroyed by the fire; no casualties were reported, and all surrounding buildings and properties worth billions of naira were saved by officers of this Agency.”
He also stated that the fire incident was caused by an electricity surge when IBEDC restored power.
Meanwhile, the owner of the property has not yet made any statement on the matter. Luckily, no life was lost in the incident.
