Fire Guts Two-Storey Building in Enugu | Daily Report Nigeria

A two-storey building in Enugu caught fire on Monday, destroying properties worth millions.

The building, located at No 7, Chiene Street, Achara Layout, Enugu, Enugu state capital, was said to have caught fire in the early hours of monday while residents were still beginning to observe the usual Monday’s sit-at-home.

The fire was said to have affected the last floor of the building and was spreading to the adjoining buildings when the firefighters arrived and eventually controlled the inferno.

The leader of the Enugu fire Service team, Mr. Chukwuma Ugwuaneke, said,

“We got a distress emergency call from residents of this area this morning alerting us that there was a fire outbreak at No 7 Chiene street.

“On receiving the call, we immediately mobilised our men and fire engine to the scene. And we thank God that we were able to control and extinguished the fire at the point we met it”.

Although no life was lost in the inferno, but the properties inside the affected building was totally destroyed.

This is coming barely ten days after a mentally challenged lady set a two-storey building on fire at Bigard Seminary Avenue, Uwani, Enugu
