The Fire Service in Abuja has revealed facts about the fire incident that occured at the Federal Secretariat on Wednesday, October 6.

The Federal Capital Fire Service poured cold water on reports which suggested that the fire was caused by a generator at one of the secretariat’s car parks.

Ibrahim Muhammad, spokesperson, FCT Fire Service, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, revealed that only an 18-seater coaster bus at the parking lot was gutted by the fire.

The spokesperson also emphasized that no life was lost as earlier suggested by reports on social media.

He said: “An 18-seater coaster bus at the parking lot was the one on fire at the Federal Secretariat and it was probably a staff bus.

“The fire started after the close of work, and at about 5:11 pm when we were called, we turned up at the scene immediately.

“We were able to put the fire under control with the assistance of the Federal Fire Service, but the bus was a write-off.

“We were also able to prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the building.”
