Fireboy DML and Rema Choose Collaboration Over Rivalry: ‘We’re Too Advanced for Beef’

Fireboy DML and Rema

Nigerian singer Fireboy DML has shed light on why he and fellow artist Rema opted to work together rather than engage in the rivalry that fans often expect. He said they made this choice because they are “advanced.”

In an interview with Apple Music’s Ebro, Fireboy explained, “Rema and I are two leading artists of our generation in the Afrobeats scene. We realized that instead of giving the fans what they usually want—beef—we should collaborate, because we are beyond that.”

He added, “We didn’t just create a club banger; we made real music. In fact, we have five more collaborations in the works.”

Fireboy and Rema have been compared on social media since they both rose to prominence in the same year. However, the comparisons cooled down after Fireboy featured Rema on the track “Compromise,” from his third studio album, “Playboy.” The collaboration showed that they were not interested in rivalry but in making music together.
