Nigerian singer Adedamola Adefolahan, better known as Fireboy DML, shared a moment from his early career when he left an event in tears after not getting the recognition he hoped for.

The “Peru” singer explained that this happened when he was still an aspiring artist, struggling to make a name for himself.

In an interview with Billboard News, Fireboy DML highlighted that facing setbacks is part of the journey for any emerging musician. Despite the disappointment, he persevered, which eventually led to his success in the industry.

He said, “Every upcoming artiste always go through a lot of stuff.

“There was a show I went to perform and nobody even knew I was on stage or spared me a second glance. Everybody was just dancing.

“The DJ was just DJing. I felt invisible and I went back to the car with my friend crying.

“I told myself never again. I will never ask for something until I feel like I deserve it.”
