Firefighters from the Kwara State Fire Service were attacked by a mob on Saturday while responding to a distress call involving a Ministry of Environment bus fire at the Adeta Roundabout in Ilorin, the state capital.
According to Hassan Adekunle, spokesman for the fire service, the attack occurred unexpectedly upon their arrival at the scene, disrupting emergency efforts and damaging the windshield of the fire truck.
Fortunately, no firefighters were injured during the assault.

Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, condemned the violent act against the emergency responders and called on residents to remain law-abiding and peaceful.
He reiterated the fire service’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property and appealed for the public’s cooperation during emergency situations.
EFCC Arrests 43 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Nasarawa
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested 43 individuals suspected of internet-related fraud in Toto, Nasarawa State, following a coordinated operation on Friday.
In a statement posted on its official X account on Saturday, the EFCC said, “Officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday, May 30, 2025, arrested 43 suspected internet fraudsters in Toto, Nasarawa State. Their arrest followed actionable intelligence which linked them to fraudulent internet activities.”
