First Lady Oluremi Tinubu celebrated the achievements of Nigerian women on Saturday in Abuja, acknowledging their dedication and milestones throughout the country’s history.

She encouraged young girls to dress modestly, stressing the importance of embracing culture and values.

The event, themed “Looking Forward,” marked the first anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Mrs Tinubu praised women’s accomplishments in various sectors, including banking, technology, and government.

She cited the important contributions of women in leadership positions, including seven female ministers and seven female deputy governors.

Despite the President’s order for a low-key celebration, the First Lady believed it was essential to recognize the mothers’ contributions, while emphasizing the crucial role women play in building families, communities, and institutions.

The event brought together women from diverse backgrounds, including elders and young mothers.

Mrs Tinubu urged women to train the younger generation to appreciate their culture and values. She commended the wives of governors, urging them to seek advice and guidance from her.

Other speakers, including Nana Shettima, Victoria Gowon, Dame Patience Jonathan, and Prof Nike Akande, explained the importance of unity, supporting women in leadership, and celebrating women’s achievements.

Onyeka Onwenu entertained the audience with her song “One Love,” encouraging women to show love and support for one another.
