Five Police Officers Killed, Two Injured in Bauchi Bandits’ Ambush

  • Five police officers were killed and two others injured after suspected bandits ambushed a tactical team on patrol in Sabon Sara, Darazo LGA of Bauchi State.

  • The officers, drawn from RRS, 10 PMF, AKU and SID, were attacked during a visibility patrol to prevent farmer–herder clashes; reinforcements evacuated the casualties and the injured are receiving treatment.

  • The Bauchi Police Command has launched a manhunt for the attackers, with the Commissioner of Police visiting the scene and assuring residents of sustained security efforts.

Five police officers have been killed and two others injured after suspected bandits ambushed a tactical police team in Sabon Sara village, Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The attack occurred at about 12:40 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2025, as the operatives were on a visibility patrol aimed at preventing and managing farmer–herder clashes in the area.

Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Muhammed Wakil, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said the personnel were drawn from the Rapid Response Squad, 10 PMF Bauchi, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, and the State Intelligence Department.

He identified the slain officers as DSP Ahmad Muhammad (SID), ASP Mustapha Muhammad (10 PMF), Inspector Amarhel Yunusa (10 PMF), Inspector Idris Ahmed (10 PMF), and Corporal Isah Muazu (AKU).

Two others — Inspector Isah Musa and Inspector Yusuf Gambo, both from the State Intelligence Department — sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to Darazo General Hospital.

According to Wakil, the Divisional Police Officer, SP Auwalu Ilu, led a reinforcement team to the scene to rescue the injured personnel and evacuate the bodies of the deceased, which have been deposited at the morgue.

He added that security operatives have launched a manhunt for the attackers, assuring residents that the command will ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, later visited the site of the ambush, commiserated with the families of the fallen officers, and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

“The task has not been easy, but the Command remains fierce, tireless, and relentless in its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the people of Bauchi State,” CSP Wakil said.
