Five Policemen, Three Community Guards Murdered by Bandits

Five policemen and three Community Protection Guards has been murdered by Bandits. The tragedy occured along the Gusau-Funtua Road in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara state.

Ya’u Musa, a resident of the town claimed that the security officers were assaulted near Gidan-Give village, which is a few kilometers from Stage town.

Ya’u Musa further explained that the bandits who were shrouding in the bush spontaneously started shooting the patrol vehicle, thereby killing all eight passengers.

“The affected securitymen were working at the Government House, Gusau, and had been sent on special duty to provide protection for travellers along the Gusau–Funtua Road because of persistent attacks by bandits,” Musa explained.

“Unfortunately, a few minutes after they left Tsafe town, we heard gunshots near Gidan-Giye. The bandits opened fire, killing all of them instantly. Within moments, they rode off on their motorcycles into the forest, leaving the eight securitymen dead.”

Musa also asserted that the remains of the deceased were later taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau.

Governor of Zamfara, Dauda Lawal portrayed his sadness and expressed his sympathy to the relatives of the deceased officers over their tragic loss.
