Despite falling behind, the Americans grew stronger as the game progressed, displaying better coordination and pressing. Under coach Mauricio Pochettino, the US side looked confident in possession and created several clear chances after the break. Their persistence paid off when Balogun’s finish restored parity midway through the second half.

After the game, Balogun expressed mixed feelings about the result. “It’s good to build momentum,” he said. “Ecuador is a strong team, and it was always going to be tough. We’re disappointed not to win, but there were many positives. We created good chances, and I think I could have been a bit more clinical.”
