According to Idris, the rice distribution is part of the government’s efforts to ensure that Nigerians have food on their tables.
“The Tinubu administration is committed to making sure that Nigerians have food on their table,” he said.
This recent development comes after the government sent 60 trucks of fertiliser to each state and suspended duties, tariffs, and taxes on the importation of essential food items for 150 days.
Additionally, the government has approved the procurement of 2,000 tractors and 1,200 trailers to enhance agricultural productivity. A committee has also been set up to proffer solutions to the food crisis in the country.
