Foreign scholarship beneficiaries under the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what they described as strong and consistent support for the initiative and the wider Niger Delta region.
The students, currently studying in the United Kingdom, expressed appreciation for sustained funding of the programme, noting that it has enabled a large number of youths from the region to access higher education in leading British universities.
Their remarks came during the President’s recent state visit to the United Kingdom, where the beneficiaries presented an award in recognition of his administration’s backing of the PAP.

Speaking at the presentation, Jeffrey Pere Oromoni, a beneficiary of the scheme, said the programme had expanded opportunities for young people in the Niger Delta and contributed to human capital development in the region.

“We are deeply grateful to President Tinubu for his unwavering support for the Presidential Amnesty Programme,” Oromoni said. “This intervention has opened doors for many of us to study in top universities abroad and build skills that will benefit our communities.”
He added that the beneficiaries viewed the funding as a long-term investment in regional stability.
“The impact goes beyond education. It is about creating a new generation equipped to contribute meaningfully to the development of the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole,” he said.
The Presidential Amnesty Programme was established to reintegrate former militants and promote stability through education and vocational training.
