 The death of former Minister of State for Interior and Foreign Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Achituwo Tanko, has been met with widespread mourning across Niger State and Nigeria.

Achituwo, who passed away in Abuja, was a prominent figure known for his significant contributions to national development.

Governor Mohammed Bago of Niger State, in a statement released on Saturday, November 16, 2024, expressed profound sadness at the passing of the former minister.

In his tribute, Governor Bago described the death of Achituwo as an immense loss to both the state and the nation at large.

“Alhaji Abubakar Achituwo was a distinguished leader whose commitment to public service and national progress was exemplary,” the governor said. “His untimely death leaves a void that will be difficult to fill.”

Governor Bago extended his condolences to the deceased’s family, praying to Allah to grant Achituwo Aljanna Firdausi, a place in paradise. He also called on the family to take solace in the belief that life and death are in Allah’s hands.

The governor further lauded Achituwo’s invaluable service to Niger State and Nigeria, highlighting his time as Minister of State for Interior and Foreign Affairs, during which he played a pivotal role in shaping the country’s policies.
