Mrs Comfort Jiya, a former Principal of Government Girls’ Secondary School, Sabon Wuse and Maryam Babangida Girls’ Science College, Minna, has reportedly been set on fire by her own son, Steven Jiya.

Daily Report Nigeria gathered that Comfort was in the kitchen at her resident around the Darusalam Area of Minna, when Steven returned from Suleja, and poured petrol over her body before setting her on fire.

The victim reportedly died around 3pm on Friday, December 24, at the Minna General Hospital where she was receiving treatment for the burn injuries.

According to witnesses, this was not the first attempt on the victim’s life by Steven.

He has since been remanded in prison custody after he was arraigned before the High Court in Minna by prosecutors from the GRA Police division.
