Former United States Secretary of State, Mr. Colin Powell is dead.
The former minister, who was a key decision-maker in President George W. Bush’s 2003 invasion of Iraq, died on Monday following COVID-19 complications.
A statement released by the deceased family reads, “General Colin L. Powell, former U.S. Secretary of State and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff passed away this morning due to complications from Covid-19.

Colin Powell, the son of Jamaican immigrants who became a US war hero and the first Black secretary of state but saw his legacy tarnished when he made the case for war in Iraq in 2003.
He was the first black Secretary of State in the United States.
He died at the ripe age of 84 on Monday of Covid-19 complications.
