Ryan Reynolds has conveyed his affection for Ben Foster and extended gratitude to the retiring Wrexham goalkeeper for creating enduring memories.

At the age of 40, the former England international has decided to hang up his gloves once again, just after five games into the 2023-24 season.

This decision has taken many by surprise, considering Foster had signed a one-year contract after aiding the Dragons in their promotion back to the Football League the previous season.

Despite his early-season struggles in form, Foster’s decision to retire will always be associated with fond memories at Wrexham.

During his time at Wrexham, Foster participated in only 12 matches, but his noteworthy performance included saving a stoppage-time penalty against Notts County, a National League promotion rival.

His presence within the Welsh club had a positive impact, contributing to raising morale, particularly following a strong display of commitment from Reynolds and fellow co-owner Rob McElhenney.

Ryan Reynolds, renowned for his role in Deadpool, developed a strong connection with Foster during the latter’s brief tenure at Wrexham.

Reynolds shared on Twitter:

“He built memories I’ll never let go of for as long as I live. I love this guy. Thank you for everything, Ben.”

Foster began his career with a loan spell at Wrexham before representing notable clubs such as Manchester United, Birmingham, West Brom, and Watford. Additionally, he earned eight senior caps for his country.
