Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has dissolved the Rivers State Microfinance Agency board, barely 48 hours after scrapping the state’s Pension Board.
The Microfinance Agency board was one of eight inaugurated on August 14 by the former Sole Administrator, Vice-Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), with Prof. Adolphus Toby appointed as chairman.

Fresh Appointment Announced
In a statement signed by the Head of Service, Dr Inyingi Brown, Governor Fubara appointed Pastor Jonathan Tobin as the Acting Managing Director of the agency.
“The Rivers State Governor hereby announces the dissolution of the Board of the Rivers State Microfinance Agency and the immediate appointment of Pastor Jonathan Tobin as the Acting Managing Director of the Agency,” the statement read.

The Governor further directed all former board members to surrender properties and assets of the agency in their possession to the newly appointed Acting MD.
Fubara’s Next Move
Dr Brown added that Governor Fubara would, in due course, reconstitute the board to align with the administration’s priorities.
