Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Monday held a closed-door meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, sparking renewed speculation of his possible defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A video shared online showed Fubara arriving at the State House around 5:01 p.m., walking through the corridor toward the President’s office. He was dressed in a deep-blue long-sleeve shirt, black trousers, and a black flat cap.

Sources at the Villa also confirmed that Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru had been ushered in for a separate meeting shortly before Fubara’s arrival.

The purpose and outcome of both meetings were still unknown at the time of filing this report.

Fubara’s visit comes amid heightened political tension in Rivers State and renewed speculation that he may soon dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC, following recent internal disputes and shifting political alliances.
