The move was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday evening by Mr Nelson Chukwudi, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, in Port Harcourt.

The statement revealed that Governor Fubara earlier presided over a valedictory cabinet session to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary at the Government House.

“Furthermore, the Governor has relieved all Commissioners and other public officers affected by the recent Supreme Court judgement of their appointments with immediate effect,” the statement declared.

Fubara’s Address to Cabinet

At the session, Governor Fubara thanked his appointees for their service and contributions to the development of Rivers State over the past two years. He urged citizens to remain committed to building a peaceful and prosperous nation alongside President Bola Tinubu.

The Governor also reaffirmed his determination to continue governing the state “with renewed vigour,” pledging to deliver more dividends of democracy.

End of Uncertainty

The mass sack ends weeks of uncertainty for appointees whose fate had remained in limbo since the former state administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), dissolved all boards and suspended officials following the earlier declaration of a state of emergency.
