Independent petroleum marketers have announced plans to lower the pump price of petrol starting Monday, following Dangote Refinery’s decision to slash its ex-depot price.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) confirmed the move after Dangote reduced the wholesale price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from ₦840 per litre to ₦820 on Thursday.

IPMAN’s National President, Mr Abubakar Maigandi, said members across the country would align with the new pricing structure.

“Whether Dangote Refinery or ex-depot petrol price, our members will also reduce. We will announce a fresh fuel price on Monday,” Maigandi stated in an interview on Friday.

He added that the association will hold an official meeting on Monday to finalise the new rates before making a formal public announcement.

As of Friday, fuel prices in Abuja remained steep, with filling stations selling petrol between ₦905 and ₦945 per litre.
