The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has attributed persistent fuel queues to weak and outdated distribution chains.

“The distribution chain is weak in the downstream sector of the oil and gas industry. That is why today, you see queues in most of the stations. The problem may be solved today, but it will resurface tomorrow.” – Festus Osifo, PENGASSAN President

Osifo also cited insufficient supply of fuel due to bad roads and flooding, high cost of local production, and security burdens on oil and gas companies as contributing factors.

He called for urgent reforms, development of the country’s value chain, and strengthening of laws and sanctions against oil theft.

“Without improvements, the country will continue to face recurring fuel shortages.” – Festus Osifo
