Nollywood actress and producer Funke Akindele has expressed concerns about the ‘baddies’ trend among women on social media.
The acclaimed filmmaker is worried that these ‘baddies’ are focusing too much on flaunting their bodies and luxurious lifestyles without offering more substantial content. In a recent interview with Arise TV, Akindele emphasized the importance of content creators sending positive messages to their audience, not just entertaining them.
She also advised fans to be mindful of the content they consume.

“I enjoy watching beautiful content, but you have to be mindful of what you put out there. Focus on your brand, what you’re selling, and what you want people to learn from you,” Akindele said.
“If you’re an actor or a self-made individual, what are you sharing? You must positively influence lives with your content. And for those watching, are you watching to be entertained or to learn? Someone might show off a designer bag on video, but how do you know it’s not borrowed? How do you know they’re actually wealthy? Don’t believe everything on social media.
“I’m very concerned about these so-called baddies. A baddie without showcasing intelligence? We need to see what positive contributions you’re making. It’s great to show fashion, but what else do you offer? Are you just a baddie in name only? Even if you’re a dancer, what else do you have to offer?”
