Gabonese President Ali Bongo Ondimba has been placed under house arrest soldiers under the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions, CTRI.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that one of Bongo’s sons was also arrested by the junta for “treason”, military officers said Wednesday.

The announcement came hours after the military officers said they had overthrown the government.

In a broadcast on Wednesday morning, the military officers said Bongo was under house arrest and “surrounded by his family and doctors”.
