Former APC National Chairman denies plan to join ADC
-
He labels speculation as fake news
Immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has debunked reports claiming he is plotting to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Dr Ganduje, who resigned from his position on 27 June 2025 citing health concerns, was alleged in recent reports to be preparing to dump the ruling party alongside his loyalists.
However, his spokesman, Mr Edwin Olofu, described the claims as false and misleading, insisting that the former Kano State Governor remains a staunch supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC.
In a statement to journalists on Saturday, Mr Olofu said: “Ganduje is a committed member of the APC who is not just a loyal party man but also loyal to the President and his Renewed Hope Agenda. So, ignore those saying he is planning to leave the APC. It is just fake news.”

Dr Ganduje, who took over as APC National Chairman on 3 August 2023 at an emergency meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee, resigned less than two years later, sparking speculation about his political future.
Party sources, however, maintain that the former chairman has not held any discussion with ADC or any other opposition platform.
