England manager Gareth Southgate expressed satisfaction with midfielder Kobbie Mainoo performance in their team’s recent international friendly, despite the 1-0 defeat against Brazil on Saturday.

Southgate praised the 18-year-old for his composure, movement, and turns during the match against Brazil.

Kobbie Mainoo entered the game as a substitute with 15 minutes remaining, as Brazil secured the victory with Endrick’s goal at Wembley Stadium.

“Kobbie was a chance to dip his toes. We needed to refresh some of the team because we have got to manage their minutes a little bit, so that is a strange situation when it is a game of that size but that is where we are,” Southgate said at his post-match interview.

“To get Kobbie on the pitch was a brilliant moment for him and his family.

“You saw a couple of turns and a couple of really composed moments that is a bit of an indication of what he might become.”
