Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has issued a stark warning to Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal squad, stating that their achievements will be forgotten if they don’t secure either the Premier League or the Champions League titles.
In his latest newsletter for The Overlap, Neville urged the Gunners to aim for a significant victory against Manchester City this Sunday.
Despite showing promise in the last two seasons, Arsenal has struggled to dethrone City in the league. Last season, they managed to defeat the champions 1-0 at home but still fell short, drawing 0-0 at the Etihad.

Gary Neville emphasized, “If this outstanding Arsenal team doesn’t win the Premier League or the Champions League, they risk being overlooked in history. That may sound harsh, but it’s the reality of elite sports. No one will remember the excellence of players like William Saliba and Gabriel in defense, or the skills of Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice, David Raya’s remarkable saves, or Bukayo Saka’s attacking flair.”
He concluded that without major titles, Arsenal’s efforts might end up being dismissed as falling short, lacking the recognition they deserve.
