Gas Explosion Razed down 20-Room Apartment in Kwara

  • Properties destroyed while few escaped from the incident.

  • A leak from a gas cylinder caught fire and set the entire building ablaze.

A gas explosion has reduced a 20- room apartment to debris in Oke-Apomu area in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The fire destroyed many household materials including beds, bedding, clothes and other utensils.

From the report of the director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John, the incident was caused by a leaking gas cylinder which caught fire and affected the building.

Seven persons has been identified as victims of the incident and has been rushed to the hospital.

However, due the timely intervention of the Kwara State Fire Service department, 13 rooms have been saved while seven were utterly destroyed.
