A major breakthrough may be emerging in the prolonged Gaza conflict as United States President Donald Trump announced that Israel has agreed to an “initial withdrawal line” in Gaza, setting the stage for a possible ceasefire deal.

Trump disclosed the development on his Truth Social account on Saturday, revealing that the agreement details had been shared with Hamas and were awaiting confirmation before implementation.

“Ceasefire Will Be Immediate” — Trump

According to the US President, once Hamas confirms acceptance of the proposed withdrawal boundary, an immediate ceasefire will take effect, alongside a simultaneous exchange of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners.

“After negotiations, Israel has agreed to the initial withdrawal line, which we have shown to, and shared with, Hamas,” Trump wrote.

“When Hamas confirms, the ceasefire will be immediately effective, the hostages and prisoner exchange will begin, and we will create the conditions for the next phase of withdrawal, which will bring us close to the end of this 3,000-year catastrophe.”

Trump urged both sides to act in good faith, calling the development “the closest step yet toward ending a 3,000-year catastrophe.”

Netanyahu: “We’re on the Verge of a Great Achievement”

Trump’s announcement followed an earlier statement by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who hinted that Israel was “on the verge of a very great achievement.”

The comments come just a day after Trump ordered Israel to “immediately stop bombing Gaza,” and welcomed Hamas’ partial acceptance of his ultimatum to end the nearly two-year war.

If confirmed, the deal could mark the first major diplomatic breakthrough since the conflict escalated, potentially reshaping peace efforts in the Middle East.
