Tragedy struck Ogale community in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State after a family of six, including both parents and their children, were found dead inside their home on Sunday.
According to community sources, the family reportedly ran a generator throughout the night, and by Sunday morning, neighbours became alarmed when there was no movement or response from the house.

A resident of the area, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the family had been preparing to return to Port Harcourt after the holidays before the unfortunate incident occurred.
“They were found dead in different positions. It is a very unfortunate incident, and we are calling on the police to conduct a proper investigation,” the source said.
The incident was first made public by a Facebook user, Destiny John, who described the tragedy as shocking and heartbreaking.

Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said officers have commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
“Yes, I can confirm the incident,” Iringe-Koko said.
“From information available, the generator was kept inside the living room because the family feared it could be stolen. Investigation is ongoing.”
Police authorities are expected to release more details as investigations continue, while residents of the community remain in mourning over the tragic loss.
