The 26-year-old will replace long-serving goalkeeper Ederson, who has moved to Fenerbahçe for about £12 million.
The Italy international joined City after a mixed spell in Paris.
He was a central figure as PSG reached and succeeded in major matches and he was in goal for Italy’s Euro 2020 triumph.
Yet, following PSG’s recruitment of Lucas Chevalier, Donnarumma found himself surplus to requirements and thus available for City.
“To have signed for Manchester City is such a special and proud moment for me,” – Donnarumma said, praising Pep Guardiola and the quality of the squad.
Donnarumma broke into AC Milan’s first team at 16, moved to PSG in 2021, and has made more than 400 club appearances alongside 74 caps for Italy.
That pedigree was a key reason City pursued him as they seek to steady a season that has not started as planned.
City’s director of football, Hugo Viana, called the signing a major boost, citing Donnarumma’s record at the highest level and his potential to help the team regain momentum.
Manchester City also signed James Trafford from Burnley in the window, though the young English keeper has yet to claim the No.1 spot, while Swiss defender Manuel Akanji has gone to Inter Milan on a season-long loan.
