  • Paul Ibe defends Atiku’s resignation from PDP, dismisses Keyamo’s criticisms.
  • Says former VP remains strong and healthy to contest for presidency.
  • Urges Minister to focus on aviation sector challenges, not politics.

The Media Aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Paul Ibe, has fired back at the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, over remarks criticising Atiku’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Ibe maintained that Atiku did nothing wrong by leaving the PDP or by using the Nigerian Coat of Arms in his resignation letter.

“Where was Keyamo when Atiku Abubakar was in the frontline battling the military and, with other compatriots, succeeded in ushering in democracy? He is just playing to the gallery. If he is not pleased, he can go to court,” Ibe said.

The presidential aide dismissed suggestions that Atiku is too old to run for office, insisting the former VP is healthy and capable.

“Atiku Abubakar too old? Says who? The President of the United States, Donald Trump, is 79. Is Atiku healthy? Yes. Is he strong? Yes. So what are we talking about?” he asked.

Ibe also hinted that Atiku’s next political step would depend on him, noting that the emerging coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) offers “great prospects to reclaim and rebuild Nigeria.”

He further criticised Keyamo for neglecting pressing issues in the aviation sector while focusing on partisan politics.

“Keyamo should concentrate on fixing broken airport infrastructure and addressing sectoral challenges rather than talking about Atiku’s resignation,” he added.

Ibe added that the Tinubu administration of worsening hardship for Nigerians and using state instruments to coerce politicians into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
