Gobir Residents Storm Forests to Confront Bandits, Rescue Abducted Loved Ones

Gobir Residents Storm Forests to Confront Bandits, Rescue Abducted Loved Ones | Daily Report Nigeria

Thousands of residents from Gobir in Sokoto State have taken matters into their own hands and stormed the forests to confront bandits and rescue their abducted loved ones.

It was reported that the crowd, comprising men and women, were determined to bring home 150 kidnapped individuals and recover the remains of the slain district head, Isa Mohammad Bawa, who was brutally murdered by bandits.

The residents’ bold and desperate move come after the continuous failure of security forces to address the escalating kidnapping and violence in the region.

Despite the police denying the kidnapping of 150 people last week Friday, the community remains resolute in their mission.

The spokesperson for the Sokoto State Police Command, ASP Ahmed Rufai, had said:

We’re not aware of the kidnapping of 150 people in the Gobir Emirate of Sokoto State.”

As they venture into the forest, the residents sang war songs and invoked the name of Allah, showcasing their determination and desperation.

Their rallying cry, “It’s fight to finish! It’s either us or them (bandits), no going back.”
