In a move set to boost the morale of civil servants in Gombe, the state government has announced its commitment to paying the new national minimum wage of N70,000.
Deputy Governor Manassah Jatau, who chairs the Tripartite Committee on Minimum Wage negotiation, revealed that the committee is putting the finishing touches on the details.
Jatau explained that Governor Inuwa Yahaya is steadfast in his determination to ensure that civil servants in the state benefit from the new minimum wage, which he believes is a necessity.
Currently, civil servants in Gombe are receiving a N10,000 wage award, which was implemented in September 2023.

However, once the new minimum wage is implemented, the palliative will cease.
Jatau assured that the state government is working diligently to finalize the details, and once an agreement is reached, the implementation will commence.
Yusuf Aish, chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Gombe, echoed Jatau’s sentiments, stating that all parties have agreed to await the federal government’s approved table on the new pay.
Aish urged civil servants to exercise patience while negotiations are ongoing, assuring them that full negotiations will commence once the new minimum wage table is released.
