Governor Yahaya, through his spokesperson Ismaila Uba-Misilli, said the government received the heartbreaking news with deep sorrow. He described the late Abdullahi Bello as a patriotic leader who served Gombe State with diligence, courage, and selflessness.
“Col. Bello was a man of discipline and integrity. He played a vital role in maintaining the peace and security for which Gombe State is known,” the governor said.

He added that Bello’s commitment to internal security policies and his collaboration with security agencies made him one of the state’s most dependable officials.
The governor also mourned Sergeant Adamu Hussaini, the police orderly who died alongside Bello, calling both men patriots who lost their lives in active service to the state and the nation.
Yahaya further expressed sympathy to the families of the deceased, the Balanga Local Government community, and all who worked closely with them. He prayed for Allah’s mercy on their souls and a quick recovery for the injured driver still receiving treatment.

“May Almighty Allah forgive their shortcomings and grant them Aljannat Firdaus,” the governor prayed.
The Gombe State government said Bello’s death was not only a loss to the administration but also to Nigeria, as he was a shining example of leadership, discipline, and dedication.
