“The report is Fake News, if he defects it would be announced through the proper Channels.”

According to Eze, the former Bayelsa State Deputy Governor anr Governor has not moved or considered moving to the APC.

“This is a man that’s very busy with other things”, he said.

Also, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of APC, Yekini Nabena, further poured cold water on the rumours.

Nabena, a chieftain of the APC in Bayelsa state where Jonathan is from, insisted that there was no iota of truth in the speculations.

“As at the moment, there is nothing like that. If the former President decides to join the APC, it can’t be a hidden event. We will naturally celebrate it.

“As a chieftain of the APC, I am aware that anybody who wants to join the party would start from the ward level. To the best of my knowledge as a Bayelsan, I am not aware of anything like that yet.”

As the 2023 general elections gradually gather momentum, lots of quarters have suggested Goodluck Jonathan could be among the front liners for the presidential race.
