Gov Abba Yusuf Reshuffles Kano Cabinet, Sacks Key Officials

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced a major reshuffle within his cabinet.

In a statement released today by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, Governor Yusuf disclosed that the restructuring was a necessary step to ensure optimal performance and achieve the administration’s developmental goals.

The reshuffle, which takes immediate effect, has seen the removal of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, due to health reasons, and the scrapping of the office of the Chief of Staff, previously held by Alh. Shehu Wada Sagagi.

“Today’s decision is part of our ongoing efforts to realign the cabinet and ensure that we have the right people in the right places to serve the people of Kano better. The reshuffle is aimed at enhancing our service delivery and bringing about greater political cohesion within the administration,” said Governor Yusuf.

In addition to the dismissal of Sagagi and Bichi, five other cabinet members have been relieved of their duties.

These include Ibrahim Jibril Fagge, Commissioner for Finance; Ladidi Ibrahim Garko, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism; Baba Halilu Dantiye, Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs; Shehu Aliyu Yammedi, Commissioner for Special Duties; and Abbas Sani Abbas, Commissioner for Rural and Community Development.

Governor Yusuf has also reassigned several key officials to new ministries in a bid to strengthen the effectiveness of his administration. Notably, the Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulssalam, has been moved from the Ministry of Local Government to Higher Education.

Hon. Mohammad Tajo Usman has been reassigned from the Ministry of Science and Technology to the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, while Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata has been transferred from Higher Education to Science, Technology, and Innovation.

Among the other key reassigned officials are Hon. Amina Abdullahi, who moves from Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation to the Ministry for Women, Children, and Disability, and Hon. Nasiru Sule Garo, who has been transferred from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change to the Ministry of Special Duties.

Notably, everal commissioners were retained in their positions, including Barr. Haruna Isa Dederi, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Danjuma Mahmoud, the Commissioner for Agriculture, and Dr. Abubakar Labaran, the Commissioner for Health. Other retained officials include Hon. Abduljabbar Mohammed Umar, Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, and Engr. Marwan Ahmad, Commissioner for Works and Housing.
