The Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf says he’s ready to challenge the ruling of the governorship election tribunal.
The tribunal invalidated his election and declared the APC candidate, Nasiru Yusuf Gawauna, as the winner.
Governor Yusuf announced the appeal during a broadcast to the people of the state on Wednesday evening.
He assured the public that his legal team had been instructed to appeal the judgement at the court of appeal, to reclaim the mandate bestowed upon him by the citizens of Kano State.
To maintain peace and order, Governor Yusuf the good people of the state to remain calm and abide by the law.
According to him, security agencies have been directed to ensure the safety of lives and property, during the appeal process.
The Governor thanked the people of Kano for their unwavering support and cooperation.
He encouraged them to carry on with their daily activities without any hindrance.
He said:
“Let me assure you that the this government would continue to work for the development of the people of the state as the judgement will never dampen our spirit or discourage us from the good work we have started.”
