Governor Simi Fubara of Rivers State has sacked all 23 Local Government Areas Chairmen of the state.
The development followed an ongoing plot to sack Fubara and his deputy by the Rivers State House of Assembly.
However, Fubara in what can be described as a preventive measure, sacked appointees loyal to former governor Nyesom Wike, including the local government chairmen.
The sack of the chairmen was preceded by the impeachment of the Rivers Assembly Speaker,Martin Amaewhule, who was promptly replaced with Ehie Edison on Monday.

The impeachment plot, which is reportedly orchestrated by Wike, has been greeted with many reactions and events.
First, the state assembly complex was gutted by a mysterious fire on Sunday night.
Early Monday morning, a heavy security architecture assaulted the governor by pouring him water and firing canisters at Fubara and his supporters who were trying to access the complex.
As of press time, supporters of Fubara had taken over major areas in the city while declaring solidarity for his administration.
