Mutfwang insists only God and the electorate can determine his next political move.
Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has revealed that he is under intense pressure from political stakeholders urging him to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking at an event held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Jos, over the weekend, the governor made it clear that despite the pressure, his loyalty to the PDP remains firm.
According to him, his political future lies in the hands of God and the people who elected him into office.
“It is true that they have been putting pressure on me
“But I told them that only two people can authorise me to change my party — one is the God of heaven, and the other is you, the people,”Mutfwang said.

The statement comes weeks after APC leaders in Plateau reportedly moved to block any possibility of Mutfwang joining their party.
At a recent APC stakeholders’ meeting in Jos, the members unanimously endorsed a motion moved by Festus Fuanter, former Deputy National Secretary of the APC, to reject any attempt by the governor to defect.
“We don’t want anybody coming to our party. You do your thing, and we’ll do ours,” Fuanter declared, adding that the APC remained confident of its internal strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Reacting to the party’s position, Governor Mutfwang described those opposing his alleged defection as acting out of fear, insisting he remains focused on governance and service to the people of Plateau.
