The club issued a short statement explaining the decision:
“Results and performances over the course of the second half of last season and the start of the 2025/26 season have not matched expectations.”
“.. a change is necessary in order to help improve the team’s position in the Premier League as soon as possible.” – the board added.
West Ham’s slump forced the board into action, particularly after heavy defeats at home and growing unrest among supporters.
Meanwhile, the Hammers will travel to go toe-to-toe with Everton on Monday.
British outlets have named Nuno Espírito Santo as the leading candidate to replace Potter.
Nuno left Nottingham Forest recently and would inherit a team that needs composure and quick results.
The club confirmed several members of Potter’s backroom staff left immediately, including assistant Bruno Saltor, coaches Billy Reid and Narcis Pelach, lead goalkeeper coach Casper Ankergren and goalkeeper coach Linus Kandolin.
“The process of appointing a replacement is underway. The club will be making no further comment at this time.”
Graham Potter won only a handful of matches after his January arrival and could not stop a damaging run this month.
Now West Ham must regroup quickly and try to halt a slide that has alarmed fans and the board.
