Inside the same home was his 31-year-old son, Micah Sykes, who officers immediately detained. Authorities confirmed he is the primary suspect and is expected to be formally charged with homicide once the Los Angeles County District Attorney reviews the case.

Neighbors told investigators that Micah had struggled with mental health issues over the years, a detail that detectives are now examining closely as they piece together what happened in the final moments of the singer’s life.

Police spokesperson Lt. Erika Gilmour described the heartbreaking situation as a contained domestic case rather than a public threat.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives believe this was an isolated incident contained within the household,” she said, noting that the investigation is still active.

For fans and fellow musicians, the loss is heavy. A man known for soul-lifting performance died in the one place he should have been safe; his home.
