A man and his friends have been arrested and locked up by the police, over alleged sexual assault.

The four suspects were said to have raped a newly weded bride in Jigawa state.
Operatives of the Jigawa state police command have arrested four people for rape, and sexual assault in the state.
According to reports, the groom, a 20-year-old man identified as Auwal Abdulwahab committed the crime alongside his three friends.

The incident happened on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at about 10pm in Tungo village, Albasu District in Sule Tankarkar local Government.
Confirming the incident, the Spokesman of the command, SP. Lawan Shiisu Adam said the assault occured within days after the wedding.
He said;
“the groom is alleged to have conspired with his three friends namely Nura Basiru, Muttaka Lawan and Hamisu Musa, entered into their matrimonial home with the intention of coercing his bride into non-consensual s£xual activity, while in the process, the said wife d!ed.”
He added that upon receipt of the report, the police officer swung into action, and the suspects were arrested.
The corpse of the bride was also taken to the Gumel General Hospital for autopsy.
Shiisu added that the state commissioner of police, CP AT Abdullahi ordered the immediate transfer of he students to the state CID for proper investigations.
“After the investigation is completed, all suspects will be prosecuted accordingly.
The suspects will face two charges under relevant laws of the jurisdiction, including criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide,” he added.
