A groom’s best man has been apprehended after allegedly stealing wedding gifts worth N500,000 from his friend’s bride.
One week after the wedding, the tragedy occurred in the Gaida area of Kano State’s Kumbotso LGA.
Shekarau Ali, the Gaida vigilante commander, claimed that the best man was discovered with the couple’s house keys after being caught following a complaint submitted by the groom.

He said:
“The groom asked for the return of the keys but he refused. When he saw that the couple had gone out of the house, he opened the house and stole the wedding boxes (gifts) and food items.”
When interrogated, the suspect admitted that he obtained the keys from the bride’s relatives upon the excuse that he was going to deliver them over to the groom.
The vigilante commander also noted that they will hand him over after more investigations.
According to reports, the suspect confessed to the act, stating that the devil forced him to betray his friend. He has also begged for forgiveness.
In addition, the best man claimed to have contributed to the wedding by spending more than N400,000 on the groom.
