The newly elected member of the House of Representatives under the Labour Party in Abia state, Hon Ginger Onwusibe has reportedly been abducted by unknown gunmen.

The gunmen were suspected to be the Department of State Services (DSS) operatives in Abuja.

Onwusibe’s abduction was confirmed in a Facebook post made by a former ally of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state, Ubani Danni.

Ubani said;

“Abia State Government has effected the arrest of Hon. Ginger Onwusibe by hooded men believed to be operatives of DSS.

“Ginger Onwusibe whose only sin his advocacy for good governance was waylaid and whisked away as he was making his way out of INEC office, where he had earlier joined his colleagues, the newly elected members of the Federal House of Representatives.

“This is one of the many illegal strategies of this thieving shameless Abia State Government to psychologically intimidate supporters of Labour Party and to keep Ginger Onwusibe out of circulation in other for them to rig the gubernatorial election.

“By this information, all lovers of freedom and good governance are employed to join the crusade #FreeGingerNow.”
