A gang of armed men suspected to be bandits have attacked a military checkpoint in Ebonyi State.

According to reports from the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Joshua Ukandu, while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday, August 2, the incident saw an army checkpoint being attacked, at Amangwu axis of the Amasiri-Owutu-edda highway in Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi at the early hours of Friday.

Although there has not been any detailed information about the attack, Ukandu said;

“It is not yet certain if there were casualties. The attack was carried out by suspected gunmen in the area, who operated with motorcycles,”
