Former presidential candidate Peter Obi, former APC National Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun, and other leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) were on Tuesday reportedly attacked by suspected gunmen in Edo State.
The incident was disclosed by Obi’s former campaign spokesman and National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, Yunusa Tanko, in a statement issued in Abuja.
According to the statement, the attack occurred during political activities surrounding the formal declaration of Olumide Akpata into the ADC in Benin City.

The attackers allegedly followed the group from the ADC Secretariat to the residence of Odigie-Oyegun, where gunshots were fired.
Several vehicles were damaged during the incident, while the gate to Odigie-Oyegun’s residence was reportedly riddled with bullet holes.
The incident was described as a suspected assassination attempt, although no casualties were reported.
Photos and videos from the scene showed smashed vehicle windscreens and visible bullet marks on the property.
The attack has raised concerns over rising political tension in Edo State, particularly amid ongoing political disputes and opposition reactions to recent election outcomes.
The development comes shortly after the ADC candidate in the Abuja Municipal Area Council election rejected the results of the February 21 poll, alleging widespread irregularities.
