Yet-to-be-identified gunmen have burnt down two houses belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party candidate for Imo State House of Assembly, Ifeanyi Ozoemena.
The candidate told newsmen the ugly incident happened on Tuesday night at Umuokparaoha village of the Umulolo community in the Okigwe Local Government Area of the state.
He narrated that the unchallenged gunman razed his house, his father’s, and also destroyed their properties.

Ozoemena, however, said no life was lost in the attack and that his aged parents were also away at the time.
He said:
“My house and that of my father at Umuokparaoha village in Umulolo community in the Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State were razed on Tuesday.
“They struck around 2 pm, set the houses on fire, and supervised the burning. The two houses and the properties got destroyed in the attack. They operated unchallenged. I am distraught. This is unfortunate.
“I call on the commissioner of police to intervene. I am grateful that no life was lost. My aged parents were not around when they struck.”
It was learnt that attackers threw explosives at the houses and the property caught fire immediately.
The spokesperson for the police in the state, Henry Okoye also confirmed the incident but was yet to comment on the matter as he was awaiting more details.
