Gunmen on Saturday hijacked a commercial vehicle along the Emohua-Kalabari axis of the East West Road and kidnapped 5 passengers.
The incident happened at about 8pm on Saturday.
The vehicle which picked up passengers at the Choba junction, was intercepted by the hoodlums and taken to an unknown destination.

However, there are reports that the driver of the vehicle was released while the other passengers were yet to regain their freedom.
The Rivers State Police Command is yet to comment on the incident.
But, the civil society organization in the state has condemned the continued attacks on road users.
The chairman of the Rivers state civil society organization, Eneefa Georgewill, called for adequate security on the road.
He further threatened to mobilize other affiliates of the organization to occupy the road if the four chairmen of the local government areas in the affected axis of the East West fail to do something about the security of the road.
